Flight of the Crow Part 7“Sorry, there’s no vacancies for tonight.” Warm light spilled out of the tavern’s windows. It was a large building, prosperous by city standards and it was a full house tonight. All lodgings were filled and the tavern owner had earned a lofty sum of piyots. It was a good day today; the owner was cleaning up the place for tomorrow and was about to go to sleep himself until a stranger walked in. He was bareheaded, had sun bleached blonde hair and had dark skin like that of the rare desert nomads. The tavern owner thought that the particularly large man was a desert nomad but the long, flowing, white robe gave him awayFlight of the Crow Part 7

Flight of the Crow Part 6“Bloody jerk! I’ll show him, I can steal on my own!” Mita stormed through the market, shoving herself forcefully through the clusters of people gathered about. With reckless abandon, she kicked away a small wooden ball that a group of children were playing with, there were five of them all younger and shorter than Mita. “Hey, what the hell did you that for you whore!” spat one particularly foulmouthed child. “WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?” shouted Mita furiously at the little boy. He replied with an obscene gesture, the boy was being deliberately aggravating and the effect on Mita was a succeFlight of the Crow Part 6

Flight of the Crow Part 5Mita had spent the last few hours of daylight looking for food and shelter. She had found food from an old woman who donated a pear of generous proportions, but Mita had yet to find shelter that would hide her from the night as well as the eyes of passersby. She didn’t think about how fortunate she was that the woman who gave her food did not know of the bounty on her head until she had turned into an alley. Mita decided to search in secret, moving only in the shadows when her face was not so visible for people to be able to identify her. With this new conviction, of the necessity to remain in the shadows, she trained her thoughts to howFlight of the Crow Part 5
